Description
Among the Cree and Salteaux Indians
By Canoe and Dogtrain is the story of a Wesleyan missionary to the Indians near Lake Winnipeg, in what is now the Canadian province of Manitoba. In the latter half of the 1800s this was a howling wilderness, accessible only by boats in warm weather and dogsleds in wintertime. Here is a recounting of the author's exciting, true-life adventures as he and his wife face dangers from hostile tribes, wild animals and a beautiful but harsh environment, where temperatures regularly drop into life-threatening ranges far below zero. Through it all the missionaries labored successfully to bring the light of the gospel to people crying out for Christ.
