The person who “gives in” rather than demanding his rights is usually thought of as being the weaker. In reality, the more spiritually mature person will usually be the one who yields his rights. The man who “wins” when his personal rights have been violated is really the “loser.” In Genesis 26, Isaac had settled in Gerar and needed water. He had his servants dig a well. It was long, hard, dangerous, backbreaking work. Then the herdmen of Gerar said “the water is ours.” And Isaac said to his men, “It’s alright, fellows. DIG ANOTHER WELL!” Incredibly, the same thing happened a second time! The committed Christian should always ask, “Is this for me and my rights or for God and His rights?” Defend God’s rights. Yield yours!
THE CHRISTIAN’S GREATEST RIGHT IS THE RIGHT TO NOT DEMAND HIS RIGHTS!
