These notes were written for devotional and pulpit use, rather than as a critical analysis. Except for rare references to Greek words, the author’s method has been to explain the text of the King James Version with parallel scriptures, showing the unity and sufficiency of God’s Word. The material has been designed for reading and self-study, or for use in a Bible study class. The reader and student will learn much from looking up the references and filling in the blanks.
The outlines and comments are practical, having been used by the author both in preaching and teaching through this epistle in local churches.
No claim is made for novelty, perfection, or completeness. If these studies provide the reader with useful material in the service of Christ and stir his thinking toward a deeper study of the Holy Scriptures, the purpose will have been well served.
