Description
Ralph Stanley is probably the most prolific of all first-generation bluegrass artists, so it’s easy to lose track of some wonderful songs that were missed in the industry’s transition from LP to CD. This collection includes some gems that never made it into the digital world, pulled by Rebel especially for this release. Two of the songs—the title track and the much requested 'Walking Up the Hill on Decoration Day"—demonstrate a sorrowful and pessimistic outlook that is very unusual in today’s gospel music, but they beautifully reflect the stoic resignation and sadness that is very much a part of life in Stanley’s part of the country.
